江戸の風情を残す古い町並みを残している町を「小江戸」と呼びます。代表例として、佐原（千葉県香取市佐原）、川越（埼玉県川越市）、栃木宿（栃木県栃木市）が挙げられます。平成29年に川越に行きましたので、今回は佐原にお邪魔しました。
古い町並みが残る小野川沿いを舟に乗って散策しました。現在、重要伝統的建造物群保存地区に選定されています。佐原は、利根川水運の中継基地として栄えた場所です。まさに、タイムスリップしたかのように、江戸情緒あふれる街を楽しめました。
